PE Funding
PE and sport premium for primary schools
The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools.
The purpose of the PE and sport premium grant is for schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
This means schools must use the PE and sport premium to:
- build capacity and capability within the school and ensure that improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity provision made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years; and
- develop or add to the PE, sport and physical activity that the school provides
At Frizington Primary we have decided to use the funding this year to:
-
Provide external coach to enhance PE and support teachers;
-
Purchase new equipment for PE and also to enable active lunch times;
-
Pay for transport to enable children to take part in sports competitions organised by our local School Games Organiser (SGO);
-
Staff training (CPD);
-
Provide after-school clubs either free or subsidised by our PE funding for disadvantaged children
