Reopening of School12 May 2020 (by admin) |
Good Morning to you all
Following the Government announcement on Sunday and the more detailed briefing yesterday, I wanted to take the opportunity to write to you all. I am sure many of you have questions and concerns. The first thing to state is that this is a conditional plan and may or may not occur dependent on the 5 key tests that the Government insist are met first and that June 1st will be the earliest that it will occur, for Rec, Y1 and Y6. This time also ensures that Schools have adequate planning and preparation time to make sure that our School is safe to reopen. The plan continues with other year groups returning before the summer holidays.
In their briefing, the Government have stated that attendance is strongly encouraged unless the family are self-isolating or clinically vulnerable. However, it does go on to say that “parent/carers will not be fined for non-attendance at this time,” which enables parents to make an informed choice without the fear of repercussion.
I am sure you will all have many questions about the organisation of the return to School and we will communicate fully with parents our plans when more information is available to us from the Government and Cumbria County Council. For the short-term, it is business as usual and we want our families to continue to engage with the home learning as best as you can dependent on your family circumstances. We continue to be overwhelmed with the support that is being given at home and how you are engaging with the School – Thank You!
As always, the safety and well-being of our pupils, staff and community remain our priority and as a School, we will do our upmost to ensure that this is not compromised. Please trust that we will work hard in planning for the reopening, sharing this with our parents and we will not open if we do not think it is safe to do so.
Stay Safe
Mrs Rose
