Covid-19 Reminder

8 September 2020 (by admin)

Dear Parents

Thank you for all your support over the last few days in making the return to School for our pupils a positive experience.  The children have been brilliant and we are so proud of their behaviour and their resilience in their return to School after such a long period of absence and uncertainty.

The responsibility that is put on School staff to keep all children safe and well is huge and is something that we need to take seriously.  I understand that some families may find the rules regarding children who are displaying symptoms difficult to implement but this is something that has to be non-negotiable.

As shared in the parent handbook do not send your child in if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • a new continuous cough (Continuous: means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours).
  • a high temperature.
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell.

It is also important that you do not send your child to school if somebody in your household has tested positive for, or has symptoms of, coronavirus.  If someone in your house has tested positive for coronavirus your child must not come in to School for 14 days.

The school has a flowchart to follow which directs the parent straight to 119 to book a test, if they have any of the symptoms.  There will be many occasions where children may have these symptoms which may not be due to coronavirus - for example a child may have a cough as part of a cold.  We have clarified this with Public Health today and until the Government changes the guidance, these procedures need to be followed, even if you believe it to be non-Covid related.

Please see our handbook for further details and the Stay at Home Gov.uk information.  These are available on our Parent Information/Covid-19 Information, as is the Management of Suspected Cases Flowchart.

Thank you for your continued co-operation

Mrs Rose
