Information from Public Health

28 January 2022 (by admin)

Good Morning All,

Apologies for the amount of communication this week but obviously it is necessary due to the current situation in School and the community.  We again have further cases reported this morning following LFDs so it is really important that we continue to take these tests daily in all year groups until further notice.

Please continue to test over the weekend and hopefully we should now be seeing the end of the outbreak.  We continue to wish all those who have the virus a speedy recovery.

As always, any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Mrs Rose

Advice on leaving isolation to take children to school

Following approval from the Director of Public Health, from Wednesday 26th January, we are updating our advice in relation to adults who have tested positive leaving isolation to transport their children to and from school.

If a parent (or other adult) who normally transports a child to and from school tests positive for COVID-19, they will be advised by NHS Test & Trace to stay at home for the recommended period of time. When this happens, arrangements should be made for another trusted adult to transport the child to school or alternative options considered (e.g. walking if able to do so safely).

Very occasionally, an adult who has tested positive may report that there are no other options for getting the child to and from school and ask if they can transport them themselves. Where there is a genuine lack of other options, as a last resort, the adult can now be advised that they can transport a child to and from school as long as the following conditions are adhered to:

  • The adult does not leave the vehicle whilst away from home and does not stop to talk to anyone at close proximity whilst sat in the vehicle
  • The adult goes directly between home and school and does not go anywhere else
  • The adult only transports the agreed children to and from school
  • Good hygiene measures are taken whilst in the car e.g. the adult is advised the wear a face covering and the windows should be opened enough to allow air to circulate in the vehicle

Reminder: A child who is a household contact of a positive case who is attending school should carry out daily LFD testing for 7 days and should not attend if the LFD test result is positive, or if they have COVID-19 symptoms. Primary schools and early years settings can still encourage parents & carers to follow the local enhanced guidance (i.e. children who are household contacts of a positive case stay at home for 5 days and if aged 5+ PCR test on day 5) as an alternative option to daily LFD testing.
