Important information about forthcoming dates / events

19 March 2025 (by admin)

Dear Parent / Carer

Here are a few important reminders about upcoming dates / events:

  • Reception – Forest School – Thursday 20th March am: Just a reminder that the Receptions will be going to Forest School tomorrow morning and will need to bring their forest school clothes into School with them (in their forest school bags) please.
  • Year 3 / 4 children NOT going on residential Thursday 20th March am: The Year 3 / 4 children not attending the residential are going to Forest School with the Reception children tomorrow morning so will need to bring in their forest school clothes please.
  • Year 3 / 4 residential: Children will be returning to School for the end of the day this Friday.
  • FSM North Lakes Food Bank vouchers: Requests for the Food Bank vouchers must be returned to School by Monday 24th March please.
  • Parents’ Evening appointments: These are being held over various nights next week.
  • Year 6 SATs Revision Club: As previously mentioned, we will not be holding a SATs revision club on Monday 24th March due to the parents’ evening appointments – this will be held on Monday 31st March instead.
  • Year 1 / 2 Open Morning – Tuesday 25th March at 9.10 am: This is being held at 9.10 am on Tuesday 25th  Only one parent per child please and no siblings.
  • FUNds4Us meeting – Tuesday 25th March at 3.30 pm: All parents are welcome to attend the FUNds4Us meeting to discuss fund-raising ideas and events.
  • Year 5 / 6 Open Afternoon – Thursday 27th March at 2.30 pm: Only one parent per child please and no adults.
  • School Meal price: Following a meeting with Orian last week, I am pleased to inform you that we have negotiated with them to reduce their intended price increase of £3.44, down to £3.34 wef 1st April.   Whilst the difference is fairly minimal, we believe that it will benefit our parents in a small way.
  • Giant Easter Egg Raffle: Children have been given a sheet each of raffle tickets to take home earlier this week.  If you would like any more tickets, please can you call in at the School Office.  We would appreciate the donation of any Easter eggs as prizes please.
  • Mrs Cass’s retirement: Just a reminder that parents are able to donate towards a gift for Mrs Cass’s retirement on the School Hub if they would like to.  Thank you so much for the donations already received.
  • Illness: We are currently experiencing a significant number of illnesses within School (ie flu like symptoms and vomiting) which is impacting both children and staff.  We have informed Cumbria & Lancashire Health Protection Team for any advice for parents.  They have responded saying the symptoms of flu-like illnesses can include fever, cough, tiredness, runny nose, headache etc.  They also say that most people recover without any medical intervention but if parents have any concerns at all then they should seek medical advice.  To prevent the spread of infection in School, they would advise that individuals who are unwell / have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people, where they can.  They can return to School when they no longer have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend.  Hand hygiene is one of the most important ways of controlling the spread of infections, especially those that cause diarrhoea or vomiting and respiratory infections.  Covering the nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing can reduce the spread of infection.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Mrs Rose
